Technology

The OSMO-DRAIN System consists of membrane hoses which are laid underground and connected to the supply pipelines. Special placement machines can be used to install these hoses while avoiding serious turf damage in existing lawns or in green or planting areas to be newly created. The hoses make it possible to insert and extract air and water or other substances. Valves that allow for the separate management of large surfaces are not installed in the field but are directly connected to the control and monitoring unit.

Sports facilities or the filtration and elimination of air pollutants require further functions such as ventilation, oxygen supply and soil gas exchange, active drainage, liquid fertilizer application and others, as required. These functions are delivered by a technology that comprises several components. Biological and physical processes can thus be controlled in a manner that ensures optimal growing conditions. The system can be operated manually at the touch of a button or it can be set up to be completely automatic. The monitoring via access data is possible from any PC. The high and low pressure function for water and air facilitates a variety of uses.

With the OSMO-DRAIN technology, it is possible to maintain the parks and sports facilities of an entire city with minimum staff expenditures and monitor the processes from a single location. The modular design can be adapted to changes in customer requirements at any time. With the OSMO-DRAIN procedure, the cleanup and restoration of sports fields is generally possible without a soil exchange. The extensive root structure and the increased shear strength eliminate the need to completely replace lawns.

The installation in existing and new systems takes up a minimum of time due to the fact that the operating unit is prefabricated and special machinery takes care of the perfect installation of the hoses. The hoses are made of wear-resistant material and any damage can be easily repaired. The entire system’s durability is guaranteed because only tested quality components are used.

The Membrane Hose




The basis for carrying out all functions of the OSMO-DRAIN technology is this special membrane hose. In accordance with the respective use requirement, the technical characteristics are determined individually and taken into account in the production. Because our partner companies handle the production under our control, we can guarantee consistent standards of quality. In connection with the installation method and in consideration of the soil mechanics, we have perfected the capillary irrigation process.

The efficiency of the system was investigated by a research team at Munich University of Technology. The study focused on the effectivness of the underground irrigation and drainage system. The test specimen conformed to the normal DIN standard for sports ground construction.

Control




The OSMO-DRAIN System is an effective control unit for the irrigation, fertilization, aeration and drainage of green areas with the use of the OSMO-DRAIN process. The system features a control technology which, in combination with special control parameters, guarantees the optimal moisture and ventilation for the root zones of green areas.
Depending on each special equipment version, the control unit features the following functions:

  • Irrigation
  • Aeration
  • Fertilization
  • Active drainage
  • Process measuring and control technology
  • Remote access
The process can therefore be controlled as required. The system automatically reports deviations from the specified target values.

Installation

Simple method of installation – the system is easily set up and can be just as easily installed at any time in existing lawns, parks and plantations at a later date. As required for the type of subsoil, the installation of the OSMO-DRAIN® hoses for a soccer field according to DIN will, for example, take no more than 10 days.
